Welcome! I'm Sarah Karkanis, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), dedicated to providing compassionate and effective psychotherapy and counselling services across Ontario.

I am here to support you if you feel stuck in stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship challenges. Whether you’re self-aware but find yourself repeating the same patterns or you’re looking to break unhealthy cycles passed down through generations, I offer a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore and heal.

I’m happy to let you know that I am able to offer virtual services to individuals all over Ontario.
In our sessions, we will use somatic and nervous-system informed approaches to understand and release the tension and energy stored in your body. This holistic method will help you to safely and gradually let go of the trauma that may be holding you back. Therapy with me goes at your pace, honoring all parts of you and how they wish to show up in the therapy room.


Virtual or in-person - 50 min session

Individual Therapy 

Walk and talk combines the therapeutic benefits of physical activity with the advantages of a traditional therapy session. This form of therapy leverages the physiological and psychological benefits of walking to enhance the therapeutic process. From a technical standpoint, walking stimulates the release of endorphins and neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, which can elevate mood and reduce anxiety. The bilateral movement involved in walking can also aid in processing emotions and traumatic memories, akin to the mechanisms utilized in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy. Additionally, the dynamic, forward-moving environment can foster a sense of progress and motivation, breaking the static nature of traditional therapy settings. The natural surroundings can also promote mindfulness, grounding clients in the present moment, which is particularly beneficial for those dealing with stress, anxiety, and trauma. Sometimes, we just need to move!

Individual Therapy

In a two-hour somatic therapy session, clients can expect an immersive experience that allows for deep processing, grounding, and integration. This extended time enables us to explore body-based techniques to connect with and process emotions, release tension, and address patterns stored in the body. The session supports deeper healing, helping you leave feeling more grounded, connected, and fully integrated.




2 hour session

SOMATIC THERAPY SESSION

In a 50-minute EMDR session, clients can expect a focused and transformative experience aimed at processing trauma and releasing emotional tension. We will work through key memories or concerns using EMDR techniques, allowing for a deep, yet concise exploration. This session supports healing from trauma, anxiety, or relationship issues, helping you leave feeling more grounded and balanced

As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), I am covered under many insurance benefits plans. Please check with your insurance provider to see if you have coverage for a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). I am not able to direct-bill at this time, but can send a receipt for you to submit to your insurance provider. 

If you would like more time beyond the 50 minutes to allow you more space to fully process session material, we can work together to find a session length that works best for your needs.
